  • 4 1/2 cups Powder sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 4 tbsp Milk
  • 1/2 tsp Kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round baking pans.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  3. Cream softened butter and dark brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Incorporate vinegar, sour cream, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients alternating with buttermilk, mixing until just combined.
  6. Divide batter between pans and bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
  7. For the buttercream, beat together softened butter with brown sugar until creamy; gradually mix in powdered sugar followed by heavy cream until fluffy.
  8. Assemble the cake by layering with buttercream between the cooled cake layers and covering the entire cake with remaining frosting.
