  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 lb beef stew meat, cubed
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 (1 oz) packet dry mushroom gravy mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp water (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add cubed beef and brown on all sides.
  3. Sauté chopped onions in the same skillet until softened, about 3–5 minutes.
  4. Stir in the dry mushroom gravy mix with water and Worcestershire sauce; season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 10–15 minutes until thickened.
  5. Pour the beef mixture into a baking dish; top with thawed puff pastry, sealing the edges well.
  6. Beat egg with water and brush over the pastry.
  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
